On September 02, 2016 , I visited a local Lindsay barbershop Wild Bills to do my job shadow. I job shadowed the owner of the barber shop Rick Loftin. I choose to do my Job shadow there because I felt like it was a good environment and a perfect place for me to learn more about the barbershop business. I got to see the everyday routine of a barber and saw how many people they interact with. When I got to the barber shop it was quiet and empty but within several minutes people began coming in. As soon as people came the whole environment changed it felt warm and welcoming. people talking to each other and music playing. It just made you feel like the barber shop was a place to go to get away for a bit. Throughout the day seeing all the new faces it made me want to become a barber even more. I like meeting new people and when you’re a barber you meet different people everyday. I also felt that this was a job for me because it's very creative and I also consider it art when you do designs on people.I learned that being a barber is not only fun but there's a lot of sacrifices that they have to do. Including having to stand multiple hours cutting hair so basically they're putting their personal health on the line everyday for example chronic back pain.I feel that this is still a job for me because it's still something i'm interested in and I can see myself being successful and doing it on a daily basis. My next steps are to get the necessary credentials in order to become a barber which are doing my hours at the bakersfield school and then attending the barber school full time.
